Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School was a lot of work but also a lot of fun for us this year! It was Richie's first introduction to vbs and I know he really liked it. I taught eleven-three year olds and most were boys. The theme this year was Baobab Blast featuring animals in the rainforest. Each day there was a key word that we talked about (trust, love, sharing, following, caring) along with a bible story and verse. The kids loved singing and doing mulitiple crafts each day. I was so impressed with how they took to the stories from the bible and really understood them. Everyday when Richie would go to sleep for the night I'd get on the computer and search for more craft ideas and different ways to teach the story since the kids were really into it. My wonderful friend Denise and her children Amanda and Nick helped me decorate our room for the kids. It came out awesome! Thanks to my super friend Denise who was up painting my safari jeep with me til almost midnight and making it look great. Looking forward to next year that's for sure.
Rocket Pops!
There is nothing better then ice cream on a hot day. I introduced Richie to vanilla milkshakes a few weeks ago and he loves them. I've also been looking for bpa free popsicle molds recently and found ones I liked on www.tovolo.com but actually found them at Pottery Barn Kids. Richie takes great pride in filling the rocket molds with a berry smoothie concoction. We do this in the morning so he can enjoy his sweet treat after lunch. One day he ate five of them! Not too shabby considering all the extra calcium and vitamins he's getting and the chemicals and dyes he's not getting from the store brand.
